BSI is helping companies in Qatar understand the upcoming ISO Revisions

BSI, the business standards company, proud to host the ISO Revisions event held at Four Seasons Hotel, Doha on 11th November 2014.

Organizations worldwide are keen to find out more about the upcoming ISO revisions and transition timeline. As the UK’s National Standards Body, appointed by HM Government to represent the UK in Europe and globally in matters of standards and a founding member of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), BSI is an expert in standards and pioneer in helping organizations on how to improve performance, reduce risk and achieve sustainable growth.

Three of the world’s most implemented standards are due to be revised in the next year or two. ISO 14001 (Environmental Management Systems) and ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems) are currently being revised and are due to be published in 2015. A new ISO standard, ISO 45001 for an occupational health and safety management system is being produced in 2016. The standard will be aligned with ISO 9001 Quality Management and ISO 14001 Environmental Management.

Over 100 senior officials attended BSI’s event focused on ISO Revisions that kicked-off on Tuesday 11 November in Doha, Qatar. The event was aiming to update organisations in Qatar on the revisions progress and how the changes will impact their business.

 The morning session welcomed Kerry Garratt- Global Deployment Manager- BSI, whose presentations focused on the key changes expected for ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Kerry provided an overview on how these changes will affect the implementations of a management system and the main reasons behind these revisions. The session was continued with an update on the new International Standard for Occupational Health and Safety – ISO 45001.

Omar Rashid, General Manager - British Standards Institution Group Middle East WLL – Qatar explained the key transition requirements and timings, as well as how BSI will support clients throughout the process.

The event was attended by senior decisions makers, executives and managers of public and private organisations in Qatar.

In his remarks at the event, Director of Strategic Planning Department at the Ministry of Interior Colonel Abdurrahman al Sulaiti said that the government has placed emphasis on the implementation of ISO standards by various ministries and other governmental organisations.
"Qatar government is always concerned about adoption of high international standards in whatever we do. Our presence here today is a testament to the importance we attach to ISO," Sulaiti said.
